Q. What inspired you to be a Professional Coach?

There was a point when I became aware that my life wasn’t ideal. This realization would have shocked many people at the time because from the outside I had everything: a beautiful family, a great house, awesome friends, time to garden and do yoga… In many ways the arguments of “I should be happy” and “what right do I have to want more” are what kept me stuck and unhappy for years.
Most of the time I was going through the motions of daily life, and the marker for my success was whether I had managed to meet whatever needs my family had of me at any given time. It’s not that it was all bad all the time, just that there was some big, undefined chunk missing.
Despite my increased awareness that my life was out of alignment the panic attack I had one night at the dinner table still managed to take me by surprise. I’m not someone who is attracted to drama so this was not a welcome event. The night of the panic attack was just like any other, I had rushed around to get dinner together and we had all just sat down. As we all began to eat, something about the sameness of it all slammed into me and I sat there feeling like I couldn’t breathe. I remember feeling like everything crashed in on me and I was caught underneath the weight of my life with no way out. I would have to describe it as almost an out-of-body experience and it took all of my focus not to burst into tears and fall apart; part of my brain was still fighting for the survival of this less than ideal situation, and it wasn’t ready to give up yet. What made the whole event even more surreal is that no one at the table knew that it happened. But to me, it was a clear wake-up call that things could not continue in the same way, despite the fact that I was exceptionally good at managing my unhappiness. It was the first moment where a seed was planted—I would say unconsciously—that something was going to happen. I had been pushed into consciousness, and then pushed forward.
The essential ingredients I used were: #1) getting great support, and #2) gradually upgrading the quality of food I nourished my body with. These two crucial pieces built the bridge to a new and fabulous life, and now form my career and the work that I share to bring other people back to themselves as well. Quite simply, it is my passion.
I had to learn who I was all over again and, luckily—for myself and for everyone I work with—I love to learn. I became a Certified Health Coach through The Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and I have continued to further my education on all levels including transformational coaching certification in TCM, in depth course on body and nutrition with the brilliant Andrea Nakayama of Replenish PDX, and many trainings in body/mind/wellness. Combining my education with a natural, and proven, ability to guide others in inspiration, organization and self-awareness, Living Without Limits came into being.

I am deeply grateful to have brought myself into a position to help other people—this life is valuable, it is worth living to its fullest, and it is possible to be very, very happy. Through a unique approach that combines upgrading to fabulously healthy food, clearing out old patterns that get in the way of reaching goals, compassion, support, and accountability my clients reconnect to what’s important to them so they can live the passionate, confident, joyful life they desire.
